FRIDAY OF THE FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT
Gospel
(Mt 9:27-31)
As Jesus passed by, two blind men followed him, crying out,
"Son of David, have pity on us!"
When he entered the house,
the blind men approached him and Jesus said to them,
"Do you believe that I can do this?"
"Yes, Lord," they said to him.
Then he touched their eyes and said,
"Let it be done for you according to your faith."
And their eyes were opened.
Jesus warned them sternly,
"See that no one knows about this."
But they went out and spread word of him through all that land.
The Gospel of the Lord: Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ.
The Word of God for Everyone
Dear People of God,
In today's Word of God, God speaks of the faith of blind people who cannot see the light.
God says that those who are walking in the darkness and cannot see the light, cannot see the path ahead, should run to God; because only He is the light, the One who has full authority and power to dispel the darkness from humanity, to heal humans from blindness and darkness.
God tells humanity that those who believe in Jesus should run to Him. He will heal, will give grace, will enlighten to see all things; but that person must have absolute faith in God's love, absolute faith in Him as the only One who has power and authority. Besides Him, there is no god as great as God.
Today, God calls everyone:
To run to God, and ask Him to have mercy on our souls that are covered by sins and darkness, which are being defiled and polluted by worldly desires.
Run to Him to ask Him to remove the darkness and ignorance from our souls and ask Him to wash away our sins so that we can be pure and worthy of eternal life.
Through the image of the two blind men in the Gospel, God shows that whoever believes in God, He will grant them graces according to their faith. The two blind men had absolute faith in God, believing that He had the strength and power to heal their illness; so they followed Jesus all the way home, earnestly pleading with Him for mercy, asking Him to heal them: "Son of David, have pity on us!" And it was through that strong faith that God opened their eyes so they could see.
Today's Word of God, God calls all humanity to run to God; ask Him to have mercy on us, ask Him to open the eyes of our souls so that we can acknowledge the light of His Word; so that the Word guides us to joyfully walk on the path of light, faith, and truth, which is the path of eternal life: so that we can live and do what the Almighty One calling us to: which is know how to love, forgive, know how to sacrifice and dedicate our whole life to God the Father, Who is the Way, the Truth and the Life. The One who created, redeemed and now He is Sanctifying humanity in His great work in this world.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
