Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan says the deal with the equity partner, Takatso consortium, to buy a majority share in SAA, has been called off.
Gordhan addressed the media at Parliament in Cape Town.
The deal was three years in the making.
One of the snags it hit was the revaluation of SAA assets.
Gordhan says by mutual agreement, it was decided to end the deal.
