Making its grand debut on the ex-Pennsylvania Reading Seashore Lines Salem Branch, Woodstown Central Railroad 9 has brought a new era of tourist railroad steam to South Jersey. The gutsy ex-US Army 0-6-0 "Switcher" was steamed up as part of the Railfan & Railroad Magazine 50th Anniversary Celebration, which featured SMS Rail Lines operations in both the Pureland Industrial Park transloading campus and the newly revived passenger operations on the Salem Branch with the Woodstown Central Railroad. Woodstown Central 9 is the newest addition to the operational fleet, having gone through a thorough and extensive rebuild taking well over a decade to complete.
