This wool challis bow tie in navy with white polka dots was inspired by the tea magnate, Sir Thomas Lipton. Lipton would always wear navy with white polka dot bow ties and so people also called it the Lipton bow tie.
While the original Lipton bow tie was made of silk, this version has a diamond shape and is printed on wool challis. The name challis originates from the anglo Indian word "shalee" which means soft.
The color palette is very classic and works well with navy and all kinds of grays such as charcoal, or light gray. Because it's made out of wool, it really doesn't wrinkle therefore, it is the ideal travel bow tie.
The knot of this bow tie will be slightly bigger than a silk bow tie because the wool challis material is thicker.
Overall, it's a classic wardrobe staple that should be part of every man's neckwear closet.
