Speaking at Asia's premier security meeting, the Shangri-La Dialogue, Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe talked about China's vision for regional order and stressed the country's resolve for peace and stability. Earlier, his U.S. counterpart Lloyd Austin explained the next step of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Strategy. The two also had a face-to-face meeting on the sidelines of the Dialogue. What are the takeaways from the forum? How different are the Chinese vision and the U.S. strategy for the region? What do they mean for the future of the Asia-Pacific region?
Guests in this edition of Dialogue are Brian Berletic, a geopolitical analyst and former U.S. marine; Professor Robert Kelly from the Department of Political Science of Pusan National University; and Dr. Zhao Hai, a research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
