Welcome to Munich, Germany! *filmed in 2019*
This Solo trip around Europe was inspired by Munich, Germany! I have wanted to visit Germany for as long as I can remember because my father and Uncle were stationed here back in the 80's. When I was a kid, my father taught me German, and I was so enthralled with Germany that I studied German in high school.
Come along with me as I explore the things to do in Munich, Germany.
During this trip, I only had 72 hours in Munich, so I had to make sure that I visited as much as possible!
My first stop in Munich was to Dachau Concentration Camp. Dachau may seem like a place where most tourists don't want to visit, but I would strongly encourage you to go when in Munich. If we shy away from the atrocities of our past, we can never move forward. I would recommend setting aside at least 4 hours to fully explore Dachau. Full Dachau vlog here: [ Ссылка ]
After leaving Dachau, I headed into the main square in Munich to have a look at the Glockenspiel clock and sample some delicious food and beer.
On my second day I headed out into the Bavarian Mountains to visit Neuschwanstein Castle!
Every Disney fanatic knows what this castle is. It is the inspiration and muse of Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. So naturally when I was in Germany, I had to visit!
Neuschwanstein Castle is a 19th century palace in Bavaria. It was built for the “Mad King” Ludwig I. If you think the outside is lavish, you should see the inside! The Mad King was also known as the Swan King and he spared no expense outfitting the interior with swans, a grotto, singer’s hall, and a Throne room. If you want to visit the inside of the castle be sure to book your tickets online ahead of time as the tours do sell out!
If you want that perfect Neuschwanstein Castle photo follow the signs for Mary’s Bridge, and squeeze close to the rail to avoid getting people in your castle shot. Pack your patience because there will tons of people jostling for the same photo (SWIPE to see the madness lol).
Neuschwanstein Castle is the perfect 1-day trip from Munich. Riding the train through Bavaria was like looking at a moving postcard!
If you aren’t a DIY traveler I would recommend booking a tour to Neuschwanstein Castle. If you love a good DIY adventure then hop on the train using a Bayern ticket!
On my last day in Munich, I spent time exploring downtown Munich, before heading to the airport!
