Markis Kido (11 August 1984 – 14 June 2021) was an Indonesian badminton player and one of the world's leading in men's doubles discipline. He won the discipline's gold medal at the 2006 World Cup, 2007 World Championships, 2008 Olympic Games, 2009 Asia Championships, and 2010 Asian Games with Hendra Setiawan.

Personal life
Kido started playing badminton in Jaya Raya Jakarta badminton club. His parents are Djumharbey Anwar (father) and Yul Asteria Zakaria (mother). In his spare time he played football. His brother, Bona Septano, and sister, Pia Zebadiah Bernadet, are also Indonesian national badminton players.
On 14 June 2021, Kido died from an apparent heart attack during a badminton friendly match.[1][2]
Hendra Setiawan (born 25 August 1984) is an Indonesian badminton player. He is an Olympic Games gold medalist, four time World Champion, two time Asian Games gold medalist, and two time All England champion. With these, Setiawan has collected all major individual titles in badminton.[1][2] He is considered to be one of the greatest men's doubles players in badminton history.[3]
Setiawan was ranked first in the men's doubles with two different partners. Together with Markis Kido, he achieved the world no. 1 in September 2007, and with Mohammad Ahsan in November 2013.[4] He has collected six gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games with the acquisition of 3 in the men's doubles, and 3 in the team event.[5] Teamed-up with Kido, he won the men's doubles titles at the 2005 and 2009 Asian Championships;[6] the 2006 World Cup;[7] the 2007 World Championships; the 2008 Olympic Games; and the 2010 Asian Games.[2][3]
Setiawan has also played in the mixed doubles, and the best result was in 2010 Indonesia Open finished as the runner-up with his partner Anastasia Russkikh from Russia.[8] He made a new strong partnership with Mohammad Ahsan at the end of 2012.[9] They had won numerous prestigious titles including the 2013, 2015 and 2019 World Championships;[2] the gold medal in 2014 Asian Games, won All England champion twice, and three times BWF Superseries Finals champions.[1] Setiawan holds the record as the oldest player that won the World Championships title at the age of 35.[10]
Jung Jae-sung (also spelled Chung Jae-sung; Hangul: 정재성; Hanja: 鄭在成; Korean pronunciation: [tɕʌŋ.dʑɛ̝.sʌŋ]; 25 August 1982 – 9 March 2018) was a South Korean professional badminton player.
Jung was born on 25 August 1982 in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do. He started playing badminton at 7, at his local elementary school. He entered the South Korea national badminton team in 2001.
2012 Olympic Games
At the London Olympics, Jung, together with Lee, won the men's doubles bronze medal. The pair who were seeded two, advanced to the knock-out stage after placing first, won three matches in group D stage. They lost the match in the semi-final match against Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen of Denmark, and in the bronze medal match, they beat the Malaysian pair Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong in straight games. That was Jung's final tournament.
Death
On 9 March 2018, Jung died of a heart attack at the age of 35.[5][6]
Lee Yong-dae (Hangul: 이용대; Hanja: 李龍大; Korean pronunciation: [i.joŋ.dɛ̝]; born 11 September 1988) is a professional badminton player from South Korea who had been successful in both men's and mixed doubles. He reached world number 1 ranking with 4 different partners, Jung Jae-sung, Ko Sung-hyun and Yoo Yeon-seong in men's doubles, and Lee Hyo-jung in mixed doubles. He won a total of 43 Superseries titles, 37 in the men's doubles, the most of any doubles player in one discipline, and 6 in mixed doubles. He was ranked world number 1 in men's doubles for 117 consecutive weeks with his last partner, Yoo Yeon-seong.
After winning the 2016 Korean Superseries with Yoo, Lee announced his retirement from international badminton. He made a comeback to the international stage at the end of 2017, and started a new partnership with Kim Gi-jung in 2018.
