In response to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's second letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi reiterated her earlier demand for harsh punishment for heinous crimes including rape and rape-murder. Strict penalties for rape and rape with murder "already exist in the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)," according to the WCD Minister.
