Not very much is known about Jane Seymour, and yet she was the most successful, in many ways, of Henry VIII's wives. She stayed queen - admittedly only for less than two years, thanks to her untimely death - gave Henry the prince he wanted, reinstated Mary to her father's favour, and raised her own family's status.
