Plans are afoot to change the Constitution to let Parliament spell out the institution of marriage as between a man and a woman. Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam said this will prevent challenges in court to the various laws and policies that rely on that stated definition. It will also mean that only a political party that commands a majority vote can make any future alterations.
