Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone is all set to be summoned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with its drug investigation which is being conducted following the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.
Her manager Karishma Prakash has already been summoned by the NCB in connection with the probe.
The official said that they have been summoned as some WhatsApp chats showed they were allegedly involved in the drug case.
The development comes a day after the NCB officials said they will be issuing summons to Bollywood actors Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh and fashion designer Simone Kambhatta this week for questioning in connection with its probe.
As per reports, Deepika has allegedly been identified as asking for drugs like "Hash" on Whatsapp. The chats are said to be from October 2017 wherein Deepika is allegedly trying to procure drugs. Here is a screenshot of the alleged chat transcript shared by Republic TV.
In the aforementioned chat transcripts, the individual "D" who is allegedly said to be Deepika can be seen having written messages like, "K...Maal you have?", "Hash na?", "Not weed".
The NCB has already arrested Sushant's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, Sushant's house manager Samuel Miranda, personal staff Dipesh Sawant and over 15 others in the case so far.
Later in the day, the NCB will move the Special Court to seek a day's custody for Showik and Sawant, to connect the dots with some new facts that have emerged in the case during the investigation.
Producer and entrepreneur Madhu Mantena Verma has been summoned by NCB in connection with its Bollywood drug probe.
Mantena a national award winning producer has produced movies such as Ghajni, Queen and Super 30. Incidentally, he has also produced the film Udta Punjab which explored the drug problem in the state of Punjab.
Mantena will be asked to appear before the NCB on Wednesday (23 September). He was reportedly named by talent management agency Kwan's employee Jaya Saha during her interrogation in the case.
