Three blind people have had their vision partially restored, thanks to an electronic implant.
In this video, one of the patients sees his hand again for the first time since going blind. He then successfully reads a word and recognises some everyday objects.
The microchip works by using diodes to replace damaged light-sensitive cells in the retina.
