Filmmakers rarely focus on women’s struggle for equality. Suffragette (2015) is a historical drama that revolves around the suffragette movement in England at the beginning of the 20th century. Here Carey Mulligan speaks of her working conditions in a laundry. Suffragette scores very well for women’s presence and voice and is inspiring. The screenplay was written by Abi Morgan, and it was directed by Sarah Gavron.
