Thanks for watching this informational video documenting the Westminster, Colorado train collision of 1985! You might have noticed that I made a mistake in 6311’s locomotive consist, and I am planning on remaking the simulation, depending on how well this video does.
Westminster, Colorado is home to over 100,000 people, but what less people know, is that it’s also home to a devastating train accident. Not only did this collision fatally injure all 5 head-end crew members, but shut down interstate 36 for days. Unfortunately, although these kind of accidents have seemingly decreased over the years, precision schedule railroading had brought them back, and with even larger, more dangerous trains.
Note: Southern Pacific 7374 was actually supposed to be 7347, sporting the one-of-a-kind 1984 Olympic paint scheme. It was destroyed in the wreck and, unfortunately, scrapped.
