After repeatedly making headlines through data leaks and teasers, CFMoto has finally revealed its new 675SR-R sports bike. It serves as the new flagship in the company's SR lineup and the only one with a three-cylinder engine. A bold move by the Chinese giant, considering that parallel-twin engines are undeniably the new norm in the middle class sportbike class. In fact, the only other three-cylinder offering in this segment is the new Triumph Daytona 660.
The 675SR-R uses a new 674cc three-cylinder engine. It is based on the 449cc parallel twin engine seen in the 450SR, with liquid cooling, cobalt alloy valves, forged pistons and a low-inertia crankshaft. The result is 94 horsepower and 51 pound-feet, all sent to the wheels via a six-speed transmission.
With that output, the SR-R sits just ahead of the 93-HP Triumph Daytona 660 and 95-HP Honda CBR 650R . Meanwhile, this is clearly visible on Japanese P-twin offerings like the Suzuki GSX-8R and Yamaha YZF-R7. You should also mention that this peak output is aimed at a Euro-5+ compliant setup and CFMoto previously claimed “over 100 HP” for the non-Euro-5 engine setup.
