Marsha Lederman's parents both survived the Holocaust - her father disguised his identity and fled to, of all places, Germany, and her mother was liberated by American soldiers at Auschwitz. Growing up, Lederman knew almost nothing of their stories. It wasn't until a crisis in her own life propelled her to learn why her reaction to it might have been more intense as second-generation (2G) survivor. She then set out to uncover her parents' harrowing experiences and make as much peace with them as she could. The result is her beautiful and original memoir, "Kiss the Red Stairs: The Holocaust, Once Removed."
