On Monday the 7th of March 2014 at the new FAI Training Headquarters in the National Sports Centre in Abbotstown; Minister for State Mr Paul Keogh TD, Ireland Soccer Manager Martin O'Neill and Assistant Manager Roy Keane presented the Irish Defence Forces soccer team with their International Caps, in recognition for competing in International fixtures against Germany, the RAF, the French Armed Forces, the Dutch military and other international military fixtures. Minister for State Paul Keogh TD said "The Defence Forces have a long history of sporting renown and have been affiliated to the FAI since its inception in 1923. To represent ones country is a noble achievement and one that you should all be proud of. That you represent Ireland on the pitch, and also at home and abroad in the uniforms of Oglaigh na hEireann, is something that should be cherished."
