The XB-35 was an experimental heavy bomber that first went into development in 1941. It was a flying wing design, propelled by 4 contra-rotating propellers. Design issues with the prop engines and the fixed wing frame led Northrop to abandon the prop engines and replaced them with jet engines. The XB-35 project was eventually cancelled, with the last bomber of this design being scrapped in 1949.
