COVINGTON, Ky (Adam Clements) -- New health insurance exchanges launch Tuesday under the Affordable Care Act. In Kentucky, social service and health care representatives are helping launch Kentucky's health benefits exchange, known as Kynect.Local 12 news reporter Adam Clements joins us live from Covington with what this means for more than forty thousand people in Northern Kentucky.This can be confusing for a lot of folks who plan on enrolling and taking advantage if the affordable health care act. Specifically, how do you go about enrolling?Tuesday, folks in Northern Kentucky had the opportunity to have those questions answered. Representatives from the Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission provided residents with a chance to figure out what they need to to to enroll, which plan they should choose, and what kind of benefits they're eligible to receive. About fifty-five thousand residents are living without health insurance in Northern Kentucky alone. Two women who have been living without coverage, talked about how much of a difference having coverage will bring to their lives.One of the biggest features is the Kynect website. You can go online and compare up to three different health care plans at a time.Those who purchase insurance through Kkynect may receive payment assistance, special discounts or tax credits to help cover the costs of coverage.
