Palenque Maya ruins are some of the best in Mexico, and maybe even the whole of Central America. They quickly became our favorite Maya ruin anyway! Here's everything you need to know before a visit to this amazing place:
1. Palenque is located in the state of Chiapas in the south of Mexico, close to the town of the same name.
2. You can get to the town of Palenque by bus easily from many places in Mexico
3. You'll need to take a tour or a colectivo to get to the Maya site
4. Colectivo's run very regularly and cost 25 pesos for a one way trip.
5. Entry to the site costs around 200 pesos per person
6. You can walk to the site from the ticketing office through a really beautiful jungle path
7. The site is fairly big but nothing like Chichen Itza, so you'll only need to spend a few hours there.
