Renault has released details of its new 500bhp race car - the Renaultsport R.S. 01. With a design inspired by the world of concept cars and governed by a pursuit of aerodynamic downforce the racer features a carbon fibre monocoque and a low-slung, GT profile. Power comes from a 3.8 litre V6 twin-turbo Nismo unit borrowed from a Nissan GT-R, developing more than 600 N.m of torque, topping out at over 186mph. The new car will compete in the one-make series Renaultsport Trophy championship from 2015.
