M60 Patton MBT
The M60 Patton is a main battle tank (MBT) first introduced in 1960 and produced until 1987. In 1963 the M60 became the primary tank of the United States Army during the Cold War. Last used by the United States Marines in the 1991 Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm). The M60 remains in service throughout the world today. Current operators include Israel, Brazil, Egypt, Greece, Portugal, Spain and Turkey among-st others.
This vehicle is an M60A1 and mounts a 105mm main gun with an effective range of 1.5km. This main weapon can fire at an average of 10 rounds per minute with a well-trained crew. Secondary armament consists of a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun and a 12.7mm anti-aircraft machine gun. The M60 is protected by 155 mm of armour, weighs 52 tonnes and has an operational range of 500 km.
The M60 Main Battle Tank has a crew of five: Commander, driver, assistant driver, loader and gunner. The tank is powered by a Continental V12 air-cooled twin-turbo diesel engine which provides 750 horse power.
