Today we're going to be taking a look at the Dutton-Lainson Worm Gear Hand Winch with a Hex Drive Handle. This winch has a capacity of 2,000 pounds and can be used with a winch cable or a winch strap. If you're interested in a cable, I recommend part number DL24045. For a strap, I recommend part number DL24242. Both of those are available here at etrailer.com, and they are sold separately. The reel is going to feature matching holes drilled in each side plate for mounting the strap. It comes with the necessary hardware to get a strap installed. The unit itself is made from a steel construction with a black powder coated finish.

It's going to do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion. It's going to feature the nice hex drive handle. The handle is included. The hex design allows the winch to be operated with a power drill attached directly to the drive shaft. This will accept a 5/8" socket.

It's going to help speed up operation. For when a drill's not available, it does come with a handle that attached on there. You can use that to operate the winch as well. Nice and easy grip design. As you can see, it has finger indentions on there and it rotates all the way around.

Very easy to control and operate. It's going to come pre-lubed, so it's ready for use out of the box. It's made in the USA. The width of this area right here, so the opening, that's going to give you about 2-1/8". Then that drum hub diameter is an 1-1/2". Two measurements to go over with you real quick starting with the overall length, from very front to very back that's going to give us a measurement of about 7-1/2". Overall height to the tallest point, which is right here at the connection point for the handle, it's about 6" tall.

Then the overall width where I did this measurement, I include the hardware hanging off the side, so we get a measurement of about 5-3/4". The base, this is going to measure about 4-3/4" wide by 5-1/2" long. Then you can see all the different mount holes that we have. We have three elongated holes. These measure 7/8" by 3/8". This one measures 2-1/8" by 3/8". These two round holes have a diameter of 3/8".
