Parangimalai Railway Station was one of the busiest in the city, but late at night, it took on an eerie stillness. There was a story that circulated among the station staff—about a man who never left. He was always seen standing on the platform late at night, waiting for a train that never arrived.
Ravi, a station worker, had heard the tale but dismissed it as nonsense. That was until one night, while locking up the station, he saw the man. He was dressed in an old-fashioned suit, standing by the edge of the platform, his face pale and his eyes fixated on the tracks.
Curious, Ravi approached him, asking if he needed help. The man simply turned, smiled faintly, and said, “I’m waiting for my train.” Confused, Ravi explained that no more trains were coming that night. But the man insisted, his voice distant, “It will come… soon.”
The next morning, Ravi told his coworkers about the encounter, but they weren’t surprised. They said the man had been spotted there for years. Legend had it that he had died waiting for a train that never arrived and that his spirit was stuck on the platform, forever waiting.
To this day, late-night passengers occasionally report seeing the man standing at Parangimalai Station. No one knows his name, and no one has ever seen him board a train.
