It's a new year and celebrations looked much different but many eagerly turned the page on the calendar, bringing with it hope and optimism for an end to the pandemic.
In the span of 10 months the coronavirus infiltrated every part of daily life. We have now lost more than 19,000 people in the state due to the virus. No one could have imagined on March 4, when New Jersey reported its first confirmed case, that the number would skyrocket. At the start of a new year, the state is approaching 500,000 total positive cases.
We're also entering the year with vaccinations in progress with more than 60,000 first-round inoculations complete in New Jersey, though the United States is far short of the vaccination goal set for the end of 2020.
Tonight, NJ Spotlight News takes a look back at how the coronavirus impacted every corner of life in a special broadcast, 2020: The Year of COVID-19.
