At the middle of every July we have the Fiestas del Carmen in Mogan, Gran Canaria. Following a week long festival in Arguineguin a huge procession of boats of all sizes, small and large, sets sail carrying the Virgin del Carmen from Arguineguin to Puerto de Mogan. Upon arrival the festivities continue for one more week in Puerto de Mogan. You may have seen the boat procession sailing past Puerto Rico or Amadores beach and wondered what it is all about. We managed to get some sought after tickets on the boat parade and joined in with the local Canarians who definitely love to party!! Let's set sail together and soak up the atmosphere of this spectacular voyage. This video uses the original live audio.
Anyone interested in joining the fun next year, you can buy tickets at the Bluebird Ferry dock in Puerto Rico Harbour or Arguineguin. This year the cost was €20 per person and you need to book at least a week or so before the day. There is a bar selling soft and alcoholic drinks on the boat, or do like the Canarians do... take a picnic hamper or cooler box filled with your own food and booze. And don't forget the sunscreen!!!
