On the 25th of May 2018 the UK data protection law is changing because of advances in the way we communicate and share information.

In this two-part video series I will cover the 12 steps the ICO advise all businesses to undertake before the 25th of May.

Make sure you review how you seek record and manage consent.

Refresh existing consent if they don't meet the GDPR standard.

And start thinking about systems that you can put in place to verify individuals ages.

Make sure you obtain parental or guardian consent where relevant.

Put the right procedures in place to detect report and investigate a personal data breach.

Next familiarise yourself with the ICO's code of practice on privacy impact assessments.

As well as the latest guidance from the article 29 working party.

You should also designate someone to be responsible for data protection compliance.

Finally if your business operates in other EU Member States you should determine your lead data protection supervisory authority.

That's just six of the twelve important steps your business must review before May.
