This stunning 26 acre garden is has been growing in this coastal valley for more than 180 years. The sheltered wooded valley is home to exotic plants from locations around the world, including mature date palms, champion trees and ornamental ginger lilies to name a few. The warm subtropical microclimate of Trebah Garden is created by its proximity to the UK's south coast combined with the shelter created by the established trees on the valley sides. Large tropical leaves, fragrant exotic blooms and impressive rare trees combine beautifully in a tranquil landscape that slopes gently down to the ocean.
Originally a wooded valley, the gardens of Trebah were begun in 1838 by Charles and Sarah Fox. Over the years it has had a rich history as it's passed through a number of families. Now run by the Trebah Garden Trust, an independent charity who work hard to maintain the garden and keep it open year-round for public enjoyment.
