This video is to bring you a closer look at the Pemko 3452CNB clear anodized aluminum door sweep with an integrated drip cap as you can see. Available in several different finishes, dark bronze, satin nickel, painted white, bright dipped gold, gold anodized as well. So the 3452 is representative of a couple of things. First of all that is an extrusion that has a drip cap on it and that it has a seal. The "C" stands for the clear anodized aluminum finish and the "NB" means nylon brush. And when you order a clear or satin nickel, you are going to get a grey nylon brush. Colors like gold and dark bronze would have a black nylon brush. Below this video is an image showing everything important dimensionally about the item. Lets go over that now. You can see from the image that it is an 1-1/4" overall height of the extrusion itself. My tape measure is reading this closer to 1-5/16". Now you've got a 1/4" for the length of the bristle and that is closer to 5/16" as well. You've got a 1/2" projection, less important of a dimension but none the less 1/2". A sweep like this you are going to see in residential applications and certainly in commercial applications as well. A drip cap is absolutely an incredibly effective way help prevent water from collecting or polling underneath the door and getting blown in by rain or whatever the case may be. This drip cap really helps drive water away, and it is effective. Commentary from installers that pride themselves on a very good installation attest to the drip caps ability to help in the overall weather seal plan for a door. Out swinging doors will have them, very typical steel doors on an exterior building will have a drip cap. In swinging residential doors will very typically have these as well. If you have an in swinging door, you will have to notch that drip around your stops for an inswing door but that is no big deal, it's just aluminum. Includes screws, like a #6 x 5/8" in a complementary finish. If you have need for a custom length, by all means let us know by ordering the next longest piece or pieces and indicate in the comment field what length you would like for us to cut the material back to. The reasoning is if you had to take this door sweep and this is a 36" one and cut it down to say 34", you would eliminate that slotted hole there and that slotted hole is nice to have because it will allow you the ability to tailor that exactly to your sill condition. Your sill may not be level, your door may not be plumb but this will allow you to get it tailored to whatever your actual conditions are. Plus when you are drilling steel or wood or aluminum or fiberglass, the drill bit has a tendency to walk a little bit if you have not used a center punch and that hole will also help to compensate for a misdrilled pilot hole in your door. So if you have need for a custom length, indicate it in the comment field when you are ordering it.
