Working with state level governments is becoming important to achieve effective development results. Beginning in the late 1990s, the World Bank significantly expanded its engagement at the state level in Brazil, India, Nigeria, and Russia. In this video interview, the author of the Independent Evaluation Group's study on the World Bank Engagement at the State Level, Konstantin Atanesyan, shares the findings of the study and recommendations on how to best engage states in development work.
