This is my 1st playthrough, with no prior experience with any Souls-like games. That boss from the mission "The Viper's Sanctum" gave me so much trouble that I decided to record it when I would finally defeat it, so here it is! It really felt like getting an achievement after hours of trials! 😅
I've still made a few mistakes and I'm sure I could improve, but this is the result of my first kill and I thought maybe it will help some other players in early game.
The video was edited so as to not spoil the end cinematic.
It may look like it was easy, but to be honest, it was very hard and I did some kind of power-leveling by trying so many times to kill this boss... I heard it's one of the most difficult boss in the game (especially because it's the 3rd boss in early-game and we're usually under-geared for it, or maybe our stats are too low or we just need to git gud, right? lol).

- During this difficult mission, I used 2 "Dragon Whistle" accessories for the "Auto-Grave Recovery" special effect so that I could sometimes respawn to the shrine and save/spend my Amrita to level up. See my complete loadout at the end of the video.
- I'm using the "Divine Retribution" skill on my SwitchGlaive to be able to damage both arms/snake-lings to very low health, so that I can kill them faster before (or during) the 2nd phase starts (in the "Dark Realm"). As soon as I see a red flash (indicating an incoming Yokai Burst Attack), I "burst counter" Yatsu-no-Kami with a "feral" guardian (in my case, Masaru).
To increase your chance of successful burst counter, try to do it before his head reaches the ground. (If you already have Makami, you can use this one too but I had Kagewani initially, who is a "phantom" guardian, and it was very hard for me to burst counter with this guardian spirit)
- In the 2nd phase (Dark Realm), Yatu's attack pattern changes a bit, so I switch weapon to an Odachi sword and either I hit Yatsu's head with a normal heavy attack to interrupt his "Impaling Doom Attack" (that is whenever he tries to run towards me), or I just keep my distance to doge his ranged attacks.
Another strategy during that phase, could be to just run in circle along the wall and avoid him and his snake-lings (if you haven't been able to kill them). This way, you can temporize until the phase ends and it returns to the initial phase, where Yatsu will regrow his arms by spawning new snake-lings.
- Fight each phases 1/2/1/2... Rinse and repeat. Use your Yokai Shift to finish him off.
If you can stagger him completely (i.e. when all his Ki is depleted and he's laying on the ground with a red UI indicator), try to Yokai Shift right next to him to trigger a powerful grapple/takedown (aka "Yokai Shift IV", then cancel your Shift immediately after to save your Amrita gauge (yellow circle on the icon) to be able to Yokai Shift again later.

Thanks for watching/reading! Good luck with this boss! 😉
I'm still a new player, so if you have any suggestions/ideas/feedback, please let me know 👍
