Australia is a beautiful place to see but there are some hidden dangers. Some are bigger but some are smaller like this little guy here.

During my stay in Australia it was relatively dry but once in a while you pick up a land leech. These things sit on taller plants or grass and wait to hitch a ride on animals that pass by. I happened to be passing by this one myself and it hitched a ride on my foot.

I found it attaching itself to my leg and had a time pulling it off. It had fortunately not yet sunk its head in but it sure was on strong.

I thought I would show you this leech. It is one of only four I had on me this year. Others have had hundreds of them in a season. There are horror stories of them getting behind your eyeball or in your mouth. Yes this happens for real.
