The family of a man who died in protective custody filed a $75 million lawsuit against the city of Annapolis. The Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death of 51-year-old Renardo Green a homicide that was caused by prone restraint cardiac arrest. On June 1, 2021, Green's wife called 911 to report that her husband was behaving erratically. Green was handcuffed on the ground, then strapped face down on a stretcher for at least 11 minutes. He later died at a hospital.
