Dragon-fly Emblem is based on the dragonfly archetype, as a symbol of transformation,
change, evolution.
The dragonfly lives three stages of matter (it is born in water, it is larva-chrysalis on the ground
and finally flies in the air); It is also an expression of lightness, freedom and harmony.
A great "emblem" of the creative process, in continuous transformation, free to follow its own
intuition, but backed up by a well-structured "harmonious" thought.
Dragon-fly is a work that uses the tools of Emotional Intelligence (Yale University), which
enhances specific emotions to determine a precise perceptual journey. The score creates artificial
acoustic spaces simulating the reverberation of traditional Chinese theater, and through a linear
(Western) thought tries to continuously connect the perceptive act with the cognitive act.
The title also encloses the word "dragon", the archetype of the unconscious (positive for the
oriental and dreaded in the west ... see San Giorgio who for the redemption kills the dragon).
The unconscious is a strong reference in this work, which through the heterophony creates lines
intended to overcome the sieve of auditory rationality and access remote listeners' areas.
Dragon-Fly Emblem is a PERLART opus. PERLART is the section of PER Lab
(Laboratory of Psychology, Emotions & Research - spin-off of the University of Florence
in partnership with the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence)
that deals with emotional intelligence, art and creativity.
