Folding Down the Rear Seats (Hardtop Models Only)
Folding the rear seats provides increased load capacity. Either one or both of the rear seatbacks can be folded forward to create this extra storage space when needed. First, secure the side seat belts onto the belt hooks on the side walls. Now, disconnect the rear center seat belt. Release the shoulder strap from its connector buckle by inserting a key or other suitable tool into the slot on the side of the connector buckle. Be sure to hold the belt as you release it. Then retract the belt and attach it to the retractor base securely. Remove all containers from the rear cup holders and fold the armrest up. Place the rear seatbelt buckles in the storage pockets on the seat cushion to keep them from dropping through the cushions. Now you're ready to fold the seatbacks forward for extra storage. Pull the straps on the outside edge of each seatback, or if you're attempting to load a long item through the liftgate, pull one of the release levers on the side of the cargo area.
To manually return your seatbacks to the vertical position, lift each seatback and push up, until latched.
If your vehicle is equipped with power seatbacks here is how to operate them. Push and hold the corresponding switch, located on either the lower side of the instrument panel, or the right or left side of the cargo area. A beep will sound once and the seatback will automatically return to the vertical position. Once the seatback is locked in place a beep will sound twice. When you return the rear seats to the vertical position, be sure to reset the seat belts and ensure the seatbacks are locked into position.
