Thousands of protestors have taken to the streets in downtown Hong Kong to protest a new Chinese security law, which critics say is Beijing's attempt to eradicate civil liberties.
Beijing unveiled plans on Friday to impose laws on Hong Kong that would ban subversion, secession, foreign interference and any acts that threaten national security.
Protestors are concerned the laws are not compatible with the “one nation, two system” policy and place limitations on their traditional freedoms.
Many governments around the world have condemned the laws, which is due to passed by Beijing without consultation with the Hong Kong government.
