The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed activist Himanshu Kumar's plea seeking an independent probe by security forces into the alleged extrajudicial killings of tribals in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada in 2009. The Supreme Court also fined Kumar Rs 5 lakh. Khanwilkar and J.B. Passing the judgment on a plea filed by Kumar and others, Pardiwala added that the Rs 5 lakh cost imposed on Kumar should be deposited with the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee within four weeks or recovery action would be taken against him.
