Selecting a MOSFET can typically require searching through large parametric tables within datasheets, and with the huge amount of power MOSFETs on offer it can become a lengthy process. To make life easier the design engineer will often pick single digit parameters to compare across, such as VDS, ID and RDS(on) but these parameters are not always the most important for the design.
Join Stein as he talks through a 36V e-fuse application where RDS(on) and VDS are important but they’re not as critical as other parameters, such as ID, SOA and avalanche capability, as well as highlighting the importance of application requirement in MOSFET choice.
