Happy Lunar New Year! 新年快樂!
It's the year of the Rat, the first of the repeating 12-year cycle in the Chinese zodiac!
To celebrate the coming of the New Year, lion dance is usually performed to chase away evil spirits and to bring in prosperity & luck. Performers of lion dance are usually martial artists as the skills required for the movements are similar to those found in their practice. Lion dancing is also a good way to build strength, endurance, and power for martial arts training.
In this video, we look back at our own lion dancing experiences, while also touching upon history with Dr. Yang and YMAA.
