Places you can't miss that are under 2 hours from Tokyo 👇🏼

Some of these destinations make for great day trips, while others really deserve a few days in their own right 🤩 the only one we didn't stay overnight in was Kawagoe!

1️⃣ Kawagoe, Saitama 川越
Kawagoe is a perfect day trip from Tokyo! Only half an hour away from Ikebukuro on the Tobu line, this is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city for a more peaceful alternative. Kawagoe shows off the sheer wealth of merchants during the Edo period and is nicknamed "Little Edo".

Make sure to visit the clock tower (Toki no Kane), Hikawa Shrine and Kashiya Yokocho, also known as 'Candy Alley'.

2️⃣ Atami, Shizuoka 熱海
We stayed in Atami predominantly so we were in a good location for exploring more of Shizuoka, specifically Kawazu for the cherry blossom festival! However, Atami is a beautiful destination in its own right 🤩

Visit Atami Baien (the plum grove) if you're visiting in January/early Feb and don't miss the early cherry blossoms blooming throughout the city! Kinomiya Shrine is a must visit as well!

3️⃣ Nagoya, Aichi 名古屋
Nagoya is a perfect base for exploring more of Aichi prefecture, as well as Mie and Gifu prefectures too. The city itself also has so much to see!

Don't miss Miwa Shrine (a 🐰 shrine), the amazing Tsutaya Books store at Aeon Mall Noritake and, of course, the impressive Nagoya Castle and nearby Meijō Park.

4️⃣ Yokohama, Kanagawa 横浜
Yokohama definitely deserves a few nights in its own right, but if you're short on time then it's a convenient day trip from Tokyo!

The Cup Noodles Museum is a super fun experience, and you'll get amazing views from the Cosmo Clock 21 Ferris Wheel! 🎡 explore the city's Chinatown (the largest in Japan) and enjoy delicious food 😋

These are just a few places in easy travelling distance from Tokyo! There is so to see outside of Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto so make sure to add some of these destinations to your Japan itinerary 😍😍
