The Coalition would like to thank 1-800-HANSONS for their incredible support in partnering a significant investment into our young people’s future. We greatly appreciate CBS Detroit and CW50 for highlighting our project through this #EyeonDetroit feature. Also to Ms. Sari Cicurel for her coordination, and Brian and Alexis Cole for their generosity in partnering with us on this beautiful build out.
The Ground UP Project is an effort to revitalize property in African American neighborhoods, promoting new construction and restoration development within our communities. Our first project is a real estate rehabilitation effort in Detroit, Michigan, The Ali Legacy House. This property will house young adults working as apprentices at employer partner companies of the Ground Up initiative.
Detroit is the first pilot project for a ten-city plan. This pilot will soon expand to house a commercial building, the Black Legacy Advancement Center. The center will be activated as a transformed business incubator – run by and for Detroiters –including:
Two for profit businesses, including: a barbershop and a take-a-way restaurant and catering kitchen, along with a multipurpose training facility and residential apartment living for select trainees.
To donate to the project to help us reach our goal, you can do so at www.theblac.co.
