Varosha was a popular resort in Cyprus, but all that changed in August 1974, when Turkey invaded Cyprus and occupied its northern half of the island in response to a Greek nationalist-led coup. After the war, the UN set up a no man land between the two, which Varosha is located and it has been abandon ever since, they have been talks of Turkey giving Varsha back to the UN, but as of now, the talks are still on going.
