WARNING: Before attempting this, please read below. Having never done this type of ammo before, this is my first attempt at reloading 7.62x54R. Don't necessarily follow my recommendations on what bullets to start out with for reloading, because my asset for that may be wrong (using 0.311 instead of 0.308).
Here's the 2nd of a 4 part video series on how to reload ammunition. In this case, we reload 7.26x54R ammo, using a simple Lee Loader Kit plus a lot of extra tools I use to make the job easier/safer and more accurate.
Now that we have all of our tools and materials ready, we begin the reload process by wiping down the once-used empty brass cases (in this case, Sellier & Bellot rounds, originally purchased for about $25.95). Then we check the cases and measure them out to make sure the necks are not over-stretched from firing. If they are too long, we have to trim them back, but we shouldn't encounter that for probably another 4-6 reloads.
**NOTE: based on conversations with many other reloading pros in the Dallas area, I've been told that the odds of me having to trim the brass cases back are VERY low, because they usually crack before they need trimming...at least .303 is likely to be that way, but I've only gone thru 4 reloads at most with any group of brass cases.**
Then I go over the actual Lee Loader kit, the various parts that come in the kit like the die, the primer pin removal punch, etc., AND how the kit can be used (alone) to perform the reload process.
Next, we tap out the primers, then line them up on the wood block so that they can be sprayed down with lube.
That's it for now, parts 3-4 are coming. Hope you enjoy this, stay tuned!
