Is Our Potato Growing At Risk? Fighting Colorado Potato Beetles | Zone 5 Gardening
This year, for the first time since we started growing potatoes on our property nearly 6 years ago, we have been infested with Colorado Potato Beetles.
Unlike the name suggests, the potato beetles not only eat potato plants, but other plants like eggplant as well.
Once we saw the potato beetle larvae attacking our plants, we swiftly moved into action with a two-prong approach. On one hand, we are manually removing the potato beetles, and on the other, we are using diatomaceous earth to help get rid of the larvae before they become adults.
In addition to colorado potato beetle control, we also give you a sneak peek at a potato harvest of a few Charlotte potatoes that didn't survive our vacation well.
