Green mulching is the garden design practice of using plants to replace constant applications of wood mulch. Our favorite groundcover or green mulch plants include sedges like Carex albicans and Carex sprengelii, as well as warm-season bunchgrasses such as Bouteloua gracilis and Bouteloua curtipendula.
