James (Alex Lawther) appears to be an unassuming 17-year-old boy, but in reality, at his young age, he is a self-proclaimed psychopath and is proud of it, not only hurting his own body without fear, but also taking pleasure in killing small animals. At school, James meets a girl named Alyssa (Jessica Barden), a depressed and misanthropic girl with a rebellious bone in her body who catches James' attention. James decides to make her the first person he kills.With that, James begins to approach Eliza, and soon the two begin to date. On one of the dates, James decided to carry out his murderous plan, only to witness Alisa and her stepfather arguing in the middle of a misadventure. Hating the town and her life, Eliza invites James to run away with her to find her biological father.
