The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its plans to contest 60 to 70 seats out of 90 in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. The elections are scheduled for 18th September, with counting on 4th October. The Congress Party and the National Conference have formed a pre-election alliance. BJP will not form any alliance but will support strong independent candidates in certain seats, especially in the Kashmir Valley.
