The 19th edition of the George Enescu International Competition brings an innovative element to its structure: a Masterclass of conducting interpretation, instrumental performance, and furthering the study of music which will take place from September 23rd to 27th, 2024. This initiative continues its mission of supporting and promoting young talents by encouraging artistic excellence.
For the first time in the history of the Enescu Competition, a new dimension is added, that of conducting, thus reflecting the rich contribution of the great George Enescu in all musical spheres where he excelled: composer, violinist, pianist, conductor, and educator. The Masterclass of conducting interpretation, instrumental performance, and furthering the study of music includes workshops designed for young musicians specializing in conducting, violin, cello, or piano.
Following the operational model of the George Enescu International Competition, inspired by the life of the artist whose name it bears, the Masterclass of conducting interpretation, instrumental performance, and furthering in the study of music represents a platform where young musicians, instrumentalists, or conductors, are guided in developing a successful career in the field of classical music by practicing and improving their interpretative skills.
The workshops will be conducted by Maestro Cristian Măcelaru, with the participation of the Romanian Youth Orchestra. All sessions will take place at the Romanian Athenaeum, in Bucharest, Romania.
