Here is something we all love to do, pop seeds. Many times, they shoot right up out of the soil with a long thin stalk and heavy, growing vegetation above. This can cause the seedlings to become top-heavy and fall over, especially in a stiff breeze.
One way to combat this issue, is by using the technique known as backfilling. This video shows you what it looks like from the leggy seedlings, to the backfilled container. No special tools needed, this is an easy technique any indoor gardener can do with confidence.
There are a variety of reasons for the initial stretch of your freshly popped seeds. The main being a low light intensity, which can be caused by a light source too far away. But be careful, too close and intense can also damage or kill your seedlings. Refer to manufacturers recommendations for hanging height for your specific light.
