The Rachels Awards are organized by the last semester students of the Facultad de Ciencias de la Comunicación from the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí. The RA is an oportunity and a space for expression and creativity freedom in an audiovisual format; and is inviting you to the free talks carried out from the 18th to the 22th of May 2020.
About Noé Mendelle
She is a research professor at University of Edinburgh. She started her film career with Steel Bank Films (1982), a Channel 4 film workshop based in Sheffield. She is an experienced director, producer & exec producer on the international scene, having worked on numerous award-winning documentaries for festival and broadcast (Ch4, BBC, Arte, RTP, TBF…).
In 2003, she set up Scottish Documentary Institute based in Edinburgh and runs several schemes to develop creative documentary in Scotland such as Bridging the Gap, This is Scotland, Right Here and Edinburgh Pitch to connect Scotland with International Documentary network.
She acts as executive producer on SDI award-winning features: “Freedom Fields” (2018 TIFF/IDFA), “Becoming Animal” (2018 CPH Dox/IDFA) “Time Trial” (2017 IDFA) “Donkeyote” ARTE/ZDF (2017 Rotterdam) / “Seven Songs for A Long Life” BBC/POV (2016 SXSW) /” Where You Are Meant to Be” BBC (2016 EIFF/Sheffield) Grierson Award (2016).
She acts as executive producer on SDI award-winning features. In collaboration with British Council she runs a series of workshops in the MENA region called Stories.
